Context

Context

This project involved the creation of a mascot for the Dalkey Lobster Festival, a local community event celebrating seafood, live music, and coastal culture. The goal was to develop a distinctive and recognisable visual element that could support festival promotion and work across both print and digital materials.

The initial idea was provided as a rough hand drawn sketch during the briefing stage. From this starting point, the concept was refined and developed into a complete mascot character designed to represent the identity and spirit of the Dalkey Lobster Festival.

SOLUTION

SOLUTION

The mascot design process focused on translating a loose initial idea into a clear, consistent, and versatile character. AI assisted tools were used during the early concept exploration phase to quickly test proportions, expressions, and overall direction before committing to a final visual approach.

Once the direction was defined, the character was refined manually to ensure clarity, recognisability, and consistency across formats. Particular attention was given to facial expression, proportions, and visual simplicity, allowing the mascot to work effectively across print, digital, and on site promotional materials.
